Finnish Style Wood Burning Sauna
This is the sauna that I built in my back yard ten years ago. Every Sunday my friends come over and we have a sauna followed by a hearty meal. I learned about saunas growing up with some Finnish friends who also had a Nordic ski center- one of the first in the region (Podunk Ski, near Ithaca, NY). The sauna is set away from the house in this little backyard sanctuary I have created with an outdoor shower. Nothing is better than coming out of a hot sauna and cooling off under the stars on a brisk night. I don't have a pond (yet) but in the winter we roll in the snow.
