Infrared Sauna Brand Comparison: 9 Popular Brands Compared

Written by David Bloom

If you've started shopping for an infrared sauna, you've probably noticed that many of the top brands sound very similar.

Nearly every company claims low EMF, premium materials, advanced heater technology, and life-changing health benefits. Trying to compare them all can quickly become overwhelming.

Over the years I've spent countless hours researching infrared saunas, speaking with manufacturers, answering reader questions, and helping consumers narrow down their choices. One thing I've learned is that there is no single "best" infrared sauna brand for everyone.

Some buyers prioritize low-tox materials. Others want integrated red light therapy, the lowest possible EMF levels, or simply the best value for their budget.

To help simplify the process, I put together this infrared sauna comparison chart covering nine of the most popular brands currently on the market.

If you want to read more about a particular brand or get more in-depth info you can check out our Infrared Sauna Brand Reviews page.

The information below is based on manufacturer specifications, public customer feedback, discussions with sauna companies, my own experience reviewing infrared saunas, and responses from our ongoing Sauna Talk owner survey.

Quick Takeaways

If you don't have time to go through the comparison charts below, here are a few general observations:

  • Sunlighten offers the most customization as well as integrated red light therapy.
  • Buyers concerned about chemicals and off-gassing often gravitate toward Heavenly Heat.
  • Clearlight continues to stand out for its warranty and premium construction.
  • Dynamic and JNH remain popular options for shoppers looking to keep costs down.
  • Good Health & Radiant Heat are not as well established as some of the others but good options to consider.

That said, every buyer's priorities are different, which is why I encourage readers to use the comparison tables below as a starting point rather than focusing on any single feature.

What We've Learned From Sauna Owners

One of the goals of Sauna Talk has always been to move beyond manufacturer marketing claims and hear directly from actual sauna owners.

While our owner survey is still ongoing, a few themes have already started to emerge.

Many owners report improvements in relaxation, stress reduction, sleep quality, and overall well-being after incorporating regular sauna use into their routines.

Among respondents so far, the overwhelming majority indicated that they would purchase a sauna again and would recommend sauna ownership to friends or family members.

Many noted that they wish they had purchased a larger sauna, as this would have made it easier to lie down or have another family member join comfortably.

Another thing mentioned is that some owners were unaware that they needed to have a dedicated line installed. This was the case for many of the higher end brands that require more electricity to power them.

Heat up time is another issue our visitors mentioned. It took on average about 30-45 minutes to reach maximum temperature in the brands that we received feedback on.

Owners of different brands also tend to value different things. Some prioritize premium construction and integrated wellness features, while others appreciate simplicity, low-tox materials, affordability, or strong customer support.

As additional survey responses are collected, this section will continue to evolve.

Biggest Differences Between Infrared Sauna Brands

After reviewing dozens of models over the years, I believe most buyers should focus on the following factors:

Heater Technology

Not all infrared heaters are the same. Some companies offer traditional far infrared heating, while others offer full-spectrum systems incorporating near, mid, and far infrared wavelengths.

It's also important to understand that "full spectrum" can mean different things depending on the manufacturer, so be sure to look beyond the marketing terminology.

Materials & Construction

For some buyers, especially those with chemical sensitivities, construction materials can be just as important as the heating technology.

Questions worth asking include:

  • What type of wood is used?
  • Are plywood or MDF components used?
  • Are adhesives used?
  • Has the company published VOC or off-gassing information?

EMF & ELF Levels

EMF and ELF exposure have become major selling points in recent years.

While many companies advertise low EMF technology, testing methods and published results can vary considerably. I encourage buyers to review any available third-party testing documentation and ask questions if information is unclear.

Warranty & Support

An infrared sauna is a major purchase.

Before buying, review the warranty carefully and consider what type of customer support, financing, trial period, and service options are available.

Common Infrared Sauna Buying Mistakes

Over the years, I've seen buyers make many of the same mistakes repeatedly.

A few of the most common include:

  • Buying a sauna that's too small.
  • Focusing exclusively on EMF while ignoring overall build quality.
  • Paying for features that may never be used.
  • Assuming all full-spectrum saunas perform similarly.
  • Overlooking delivery, installation, and electrical requirements.
